Read any good books lately?

There is something so relaxing about curling up with a good book, don’t you think?

I love visiting our little local library and perusing the book shelves, trying to find that perfect summer read. This week I somehow remembered that Jodi Picoult ( author of My Sister’s Keeper, book turned movie) lives in our fine state of New Hampshire,  so I decided to read one of her books.  On the shelf were two choices, one of which was My Sister’s Keeper, surprise, surprise.

As I sat all curled up on the couch reading this novel it occurred to me that somewhere else there are other  people out there in the world, also curled up  reading  a good book, but they are holding a laptop, reading an ebook.  It just struck me that I do not think I would enjoy that much.  I really, really like the feel of  sitting with the book,  sliding my hand behind the current page,  filled with anticipation of turning to the next page…and then the next,  and so on.

So how about you? Read any good books lately? Actual books made of paper, or ebooks?

  1. I love reading :) I just finished The Time Traveler’s Wife (in anticipation of the movie coming out next week which I really want to see!) It was very good. Now I am reading Sworn to Silence…not too far in to it yet, but so far, its really good! Another one on a more serious note that I finished recently is Genius Denied about gifted kids—wonderful resource! The boys & I are reading Superfudge together too. (I have read several times, but its a first for them!)

  2. Thanks for the list! I always need new ideas.
I finished My Sister’s Keeper, now to decide about seeing the movie. I hear the ending is different…hmmm, not sure I like that idea.

  3. I know–I do want to see the movie version of that one, but am also worried about how I will feel about the different ending. I dont know much about it, but just heard its WAY different than the book. I REALLY do not like that..I hate even little discrepancies let alone changing the whole ending!!! BTW, that was one of my least fave Picoult books…liked the story line but thought the book was slow moving. My Faves by her are Nineteen Minutes & The Pact ;)
